Baseball Recap: Bulls College Prep Comes Up Short

Bulls College Prep had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it five. They came up short against the Mather Rangers, falling 13-3. The Bulls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rangers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

As for Mather, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games.

For Mather's part, David Goytia was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with seven stolen bases and four runs. That's the most runs Goytia has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jadier Castillo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Bulls College Prep will face off against Thornton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.15 runs per game on average), something the Bulls will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mather, they have already played their next matchup, a 7-0 defeat against Clemente on the 23rd.
