Basketball Recap: Western Guilford Takes a Loss

Western Guilford and Southeast Guilford faced off in a cross-town battle on Wednesday. The Western Guilford Hornets fell to the Southeast Guilford Falcons 61-55. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 59-43.

Southeast Guilford got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justin Geter out in front who went 5-for-7 on his way to 15 points. The dominant performance also gave Geter a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Byron Arant was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Western Guilford's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Southeast Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Guilford will face off against Ragsdale at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Western Guilford is facing Ragsdale at the right time seeing as Ragsdale is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Southeast Guilford, they will challenge Page at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Guilford has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 193 points over their last three games.
