Basketball Recap: Abbeville Skates Past Whitmire with Ease

Abbeville's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 53-11 win over the Whitmire Wolverines. The Panthers pushed the score to 46-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolverines had no chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Abbeville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauryn Murray, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Murray is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. Ar'Naisyah Gray was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Abbeville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitmire only pulled down two offensive boards.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brantlee Roche, who posted three points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Brooks, who had two points and three steals.

Abbeville's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.6 points per game. As for Whitmire, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16.

Abbeville will take on Dixie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dixie will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Abbeville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Whitmire, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-15 defeat against Ware Shoals on the 5th.
