Softball Recap: WestSide Renegades vs. Liberty Raiders
WestSide lost against Liberty back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The WestSide Renegades wound up on the wrong side of a rough 16-2 walloping at the hands of the Liberty Raiders. WestSide has struggled against Liberty recently, as their match on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
For Liberty's part, Maddie Cox was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Cox was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Liberty got a massive performance out of Katie Mullens, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple. Another player making a difference was Alyson Griffith, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, a triple, and a run.
WestSide's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. WestSide will take on Charleston Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Liberty, they will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Oak Hill at 6:00 p.m. Liberty is facing Oak Hill at the right time seeing as Oak Hill is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
