Baseball Recap: Laguna Hills Comes Up Short

Laguna Hills had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 13-12 to make it four. They came up short against the Fullerton Indians, falling 7-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Indians this season, with their most recent defeat being a 4-0 loss on Wednesday.

Laguna Hills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Sigaty, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Fullerton, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

On Fullerton's side, Caden Wise tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, Wayne Warden was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Malachi Meni, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laguna Hills will challenge Calvary Chapel at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Fullerton, they will face off against Ocean View at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: the Seahawks will have lost three straight heading into Tuesday's match.
