Volleyball Game Preview: Irvine Vaqueros vs. University Trojans

Irvine is 1-9 against University since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vaqueros will face off against the Trojans at 5:15 p.m.

Irvine lost 3-0 to Portola on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vaqueros have suffered against the Bulldogs since September 2, 2021.

While Irvine was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-16, 25-20.

Meanwhile, University earned a 3-1 victory over Woodbridge on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

University had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-21.

Irvine's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for University, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-6.

Irvine couldn't quite get it done against University in their previous meeting back in October of 2023 as they fell 3-1. Can the Vaqueros avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
