Basketball Recap: Trinity Triumphs

Trinity's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Central Christian Academy Lions 36-34. This was payback for the Celtics, who suffered a 39-35 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laila Hernandez, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elaina Magana, who put up 14 points and three steals.

Trinity's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-15. As for Central Christian Academy, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-10.

Trinity has already played their next matchup, a 49-38 defeat against Sedgwick on the 6th. As for Central Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ell-Saline at 6:00 p.m. on the 13th.
