Softball Game Preview: Huckabay Indians vs. Blum Bobcats

The Huckabay Indians will square off against the Blum Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Huckabay is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Gholson get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 12 runs or more this season.

Taylor Sharp made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with five stolen bases and two runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Kaci Hatfield was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ella Gailey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Huckabay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blum). They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over Coolidge on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.

Blum's victory bumped their record up to 2-4-1. As for Huckabay, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
