Avon hasn't had much luck against Fishers recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Orioles will head out to challenge the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Avon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Avon turned things around against Terre Haute North Vigo on Tuesday. They never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 5-0 win.

The result came thanks to Braden Lockridge's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.
At the plate, Avon got a big performance out of Keegan Grubbs, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Salyer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Avon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Terre Haute North Vigo only posted an OBP of .310.
Meanwhile, Fishers faced Carmel in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Tigers fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 8-7. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Jase Ruggles led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zander Carnahan, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Fishers' defeat dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Avon, their record now sits at 14-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Avon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fishers struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Avon came up short against Fishers in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Orioles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
