It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but West Blocton had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Bibb County Choctaws 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 20 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Khloe Forsythe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, West Blocton got a massive performance out of Koli Hobson, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave Hobson a new career-high. Jacey Register was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
West Blocton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bibb County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-22 record this season.
