Baseball Game Preview: C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons vs. Southern Wayne Saints

The C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons will face off against the Southern Wayne Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in C.B. Aycock's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.

C.B. Aycock came out on top against Smithfield-Selma on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run seventh inning. The Golden Falcons were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Spartans. The Golden Falcons haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Ty Swenson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, C.B. Aycock got a massive performance out of Caden Cox, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. The Golden Falcons are undefeated when Cox posts two or more runs, but 7-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Braxton Toler, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Southern Wayne was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 9-1 to West Johnston. The loss continues a trend for the Saints in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Southern Wayne saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Waller, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Southern Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for C.B. Aycock, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

C.B. Aycock came out on top in a nail-biter against Southern Wayne in their previous meeting on April 1st, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Golden Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
