Baseball Recap: Mason Beats Hamilton for Their Fourth Straight Win

Mason never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Hamilton Big Blue with a sharp 10-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 last Monday.

Not much got past Ben Hanley, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Hamilton off the board.

On the hitting side, Mason let Cade Landheer and Chase Gandert run wild. Landheer scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Gandert got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Liam Sander, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Mason always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton only posted an OBP of .182.

The win was the fourth in a row for Mason, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Hamilton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mason will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Xavier at 5:00 p.m. on May 15. As for Hamilton, they will venture away from home to square off against Princeton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
