Basketball Game Preview: Galena Pirates vs. Scales Mound Hornets

The Galena Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Scales Mound Hornets at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Galena took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Stockton, posting a 51-22 win.

Meanwhile, Scales Mound entered their tilt with Warren on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 68-57.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Kaden Duerr and Treyton Pafford. Duerr had a solid game and posted 14 points and six assists. Meanwhile, Pafford did his best for the losing side, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Scales Mound's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Galena, their record is now 14-11.

Galena came up short against Scales Mound in their previous meeting back in January, falling 56-46. Can Galena avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
