Softball Game Preview: Glen Ridge Ridgers vs. Newark Academy Minutemen

The Glen Ridge Ridgers will venture away from home to square off against the Newark Academy Minutemen at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Saturday, Glen Ridge came up short against Montclair and fell 6-3. The loss continues a trend for the Ridgers in their meetings with the Mounties: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Newark Academy was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against Mount St. Dominic Academy, falling 11-1.

Glen Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Newark Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Everything went Glen Ridge's way against Newark Academy in their previous matchup back in April, as Glen Ridge made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ridgers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
