Basketball Game Preview: East Stroudsburg North Timberwolves vs. Minisink Valley Warriors

The East Stroudsburg North Timberwolves and the Minisink Valley Warriors will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses apiece.

Last Thursday, East Stroudsburg North lost to Freedom at home by a 68-53 margin. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 589th, while the Patriots are ranked 195th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Christopher Samuels, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. Those 11 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Piotr Drozd, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, East Stroudsburg North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-43, which was the final score in Minisink Valley's tilt against Sparta on Monday.

Minisink Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for East Stroudsburg North, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

East Stroudsburg North came up short against Minisink Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2019, falling 79-66. Can East Stroudsburg North avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
