Preview: Hayden Wildcats vs. Fairfield Tigers

The Hayden Wildcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Fairfield Tigers at 7:00 p.m.

Hayden fell victim to Ramsay's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Rams 45-0. While losing is never fun, Hayden can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Ramsay is ranked 15th).

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Fairfield beat Wenonah 31-27 on Friday. The win was just what Fairfield needed coming off of a 48-13 loss in their prior contest.

Fairfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justin Murray out in front who rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns. Murray is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jumaria Hamilton, who threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes.

Fairfield's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Jordan Reed and his two sacks.

This is the second loss in a row for Hayden and nudges their season record down to 2-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.5 points per game. As for Fairfield, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Hayden was taken down by Fairfield 40-12 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Hayden have more luck at home instead of on the road?
