Basketball Recap: Candlelight Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Candlelight Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Florida College Academy Falcons and fell 81-37. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flames this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-34 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Candlelight Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabriel Coste went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points along with eight boards and three blocks. Coste is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played.

Candlelight Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Florida College Academy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Candlelight Christian Academy will head out to square off against Crossroads Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crossroads Christian will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Candlelight Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight. Florida College Academy has already played their next contest (against Winter Haven Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
