Soccer Game Preview: Taylorville vs. Lincoln

The Taylorville Tornadoes will head out on the road to challenge the Lincoln Railsplitters at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Taylorville has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 19.

On Tuesday, Taylorville came up short against Mahomet-Seymour and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, Taylorville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Mahomet-Seymour are ranked 101st).

Meanwhile, Lincoln kept a clean sheet against St. Teresa on Monday. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Lincoln in their matchups with St. Teresa: they've now won three in a row.

Makinley Knapp and Ivy Sandel scored all three of Lincoln's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Lincoln's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Taylorville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Taylorville suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Lincoln in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Tornadoes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
