Preview: Buchanan Bucks vs. Constantine Falcons
Buchanan is 0-4 against Constantine since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Buchanan Bucks will head out on the road to face off against the Constantine Falcons at 1:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Buchanan sitting on four straight wins and Constantine on eight.
Last Friday, Buchanan beat Hackett Catholic Prep 29-21.
Meanwhile, Constantine can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. They blew past Olivet 42-12 at home. Constantine pushed the score to 36-12 by the end of the third, a deficit Olivet had little chance of recovering from.
It was another big night for Bennett Vandenberg, who rushed for 195 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Rushawn James also helped out as he racked up 135 rushing yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Olivet to a paltry 78 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Constantine's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Michael Featherstone and his two sacks.
Buchanan has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Constantine, their win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-1.
Buchanan took a serious blow against Constantine in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 54-12. Thankfully for Buchanan, Brayden Clark (who rushed for 219 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
