Preview: Douglas Tigers vs. McQueen Lancers
Douglas is 8-2 against McQueen since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Douglas Tigers will head out on the road to take on the McQueen Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Douglas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
Douglas posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They breezed by Carson on the road to the tune of 72-37. With Douglas ahead 36-15 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Douglas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jett Lehmann, who scored 11 points along with five steals. Lehmann hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Pitts, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, McQueen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 54-41 to Reno. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McQueen has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kanigh Snyder, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Kade Snyder was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Douglas' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13. As for McQueen, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Douglas hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.7 points per game. It's a different story for McQueen, though, as they've been averaging only 59.7 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Douglas couldn't quite finish off McQueen in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 and fell 72-69. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Snyder, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 13 rebounds. Now that Douglas knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
