Recap: Evans Knights vs. Brunswick Pirates

The Evans Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Brunswick 62-30. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Evans in their matchups with Brunswick: they've now lost four in a row.

Evans lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kimariya Hinton, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds. Hinton is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Briyanna Jones was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Even though they lost, Evans were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brunswick only pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brunswick to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauryn Walker, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Walker's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermiyah Ramsey, who scored 12 points.

Evans has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Brunswick, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Evans will head out on the road to face off against Grovetown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grovetown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Evans in Georgia (Grovetown is ranked 222nd, while Evans is ranked 475th). Brunswick and Glynn Academy will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
