Basketball Game Preview: Tuscola Mountaineers vs. Owen Warhorses + Official Tickets

The Tuscola Mountaineers will face off against the Owen Warhorses at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Owen took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Tuscola, who comes in off a win.

Tuscola is headed out to face Owen after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Mountaineers were the clear victors by a 66-45 margin over Madison on Tuesday.

Julia Wells was a one-woman wrecking crew as she dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten steals. What's more, she also posted a 67% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Vesper Forbes, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Tuscola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Owen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against R-S Central, falling 66-26.

Tuscola took their victory against Owen when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 68-42 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountaineers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
