Basketball Recap: Hiwassee Dam Takes a Loss

Hiwassee Dam was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Polk County Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 570th in North Carolina, while the Wildcats are ranked 261st in Tennessee).

Hiwassee Dam's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Polk County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-7.

Hiwassee Dam has already played their next game (against Copper Basin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Polk County will venture away from home to challenge Roane County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Roane County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
