Softball Recap: Templeton Eagles vs. St. Joseph Knights

Templeton had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-16-1 to make it nine. They came up short against the St. Joseph Knights, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 back in March.

Ella Acosta was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Ayla Gillett also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for St. Joseph, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

On St. Joseph's side, Annalyssa Cota was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaycie Gavlak, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
