Baseball Recap: Granada Comes Up Short

Granada extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-9. They came up short against the Holly Wildcats, falling 15-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 19-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Edgurr Morales and Angelo Martinez did some serious damage despite the final result: Morales got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Martinez got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Annalicia Mendez, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Holly's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Holly's side, Coy King was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Those nine strikeouts gave King a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Jessie Pizarro was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Leo Mendonza, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Granada beat Holly by a score of 4-3 later that day.
