Basketball Game Preview: High Island Cardinals vs. Burkeville Mustangs

The High Island Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Burkeville Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. High Island has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 3.

It was a proper cat-fight when High Island faced off against Brookeland on Friday. High Island was beaten by Brookeland 84-5. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1574th, while the Wildcats are ranked 336th).

Meanwhile, Burkeville was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 23-22 to Spurger. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

High Island's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Burkeville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

High Island couldn't quite finish off Burkeville in their previous matchup on January 3rd and fell 28-26. Can High Island avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
