The Glide Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Harrisburg Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Glide knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Harrisburg likes a good challenge.
Glide took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Marshfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pirates on Tuesday, sneaking past 18-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 27, 2024.
Ella Weber was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Emma Geiger was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Geiger, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Glide kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Harrisburg took on La Pine on Friday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 18-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Harrisburg has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Glide, their record now sits at 15-7.
Everything went Glide's way against Harrisburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2018, as Glide made off with an 11-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
