Baseball Recap: Hillsboro Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Hillsboro never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Antioch Bears. The Burros haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Clayton Jenkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Cyrus Conner was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Drake McDowell was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Hillsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .731. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hillsboro pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Antioch, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillsboro will square off against Lawson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Burros' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lightning have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Antioch, they will take on East Nashville Magnet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
