Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Hornets vs. High Tech SD Storm

The Lincoln Hornets will square off against the High Tech SD Storm at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Lincoln will bounce into Friday's game after beating Monte Vista, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Hornets put the hurt on the Monarchs with a sharp 22-8 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won nine matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

High Tech SD let Kearny stack five runs on them in the seventh inning on Wednesday but luckily High Tech SD prevailed anyway. The Storm had just enough and edged out the Komets 9-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Storm.

Grace Gallagher and Imani Woolfolk did most of the damage at the plate: Gallagher went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run, while Woolfolk went 3-for-4 with three runs. Julia Melchor also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for High Tech SD, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Lincoln took their win against High Tech SD in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 20-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
