Basketball Recap: Morningside Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Morningside Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Babcock Trailblazers by a score of 40-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since December 5, 2023.

Babcock's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yanela Gomez, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makena Ferry, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Morningside Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Babcock, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morningside Academy will take on Okeechobee at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Morningside Academy is facing Okeechobee at the right time seeing as Okeechobee is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Babcock, they will host LaBelle at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Babcock's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while LaBelle has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
