Preview: NCSSM: Durham Unicorns vs. Raleigh Charter Phoenix
NCSSM: Durham has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Raleigh Charter Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Tuesday, NCSSM: Durham ended up a good deal behind Falls Lake and lost 55-37. While losing is never fun, NCSSM: Durham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Falls Lake is ranked 107th).
While Raleigh Charter couldn't quite beat East Wake Academy on Tuesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 31-point loss they were dealt on Friday. Raleigh Charter fell just short of East Wake Academy by a score of 36-34. Raleigh Charter has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
NCSSM: Durham's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Raleigh Charter, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for NCSSM: Durham against Raleigh Charter when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 59-23 victory. With NCSSM: Durham ahead 29-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
