Baseball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Comes Up Short

Mt. Pleasant lost against Powers Catholic back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Oilers took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers.

Brogan Parks was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Parks was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Clayton Molyneux was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Grahm Phillips, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.

Mt. Pleasant's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Powers Catholic, they pushed their record up to 1-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Pleasant will take on Heritage at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Powers Catholic, they will square off against Bay City Western at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
