Baseball Recap: Bell Victorious

While Bell's victory against South East wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Bell had just enough and edged out South East 8-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 last Monday.

Nathen Oropeza looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bell is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jesse Anguiano, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jayden Barrientos, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Bell and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for South East, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bell will venture away from home to square off against Burroughs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bell 3.2, Burroughs 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for South East, they are taking a road trip to challenge Chavez at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Chavez's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so South East's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
