Basketball Recap: Rockford FIRE Homeschool's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Rockford FIRE HomeSchool had to endure a 12-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down the Oakhill Christian Royals 54-40 on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the FIRE, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

When it comes to explaining why Oakhill Christian lost, don't look at Isaac Vogel. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points. That was a full 55% of Oakhill Christian's points, marking the fifth time in a row Vogel has earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Harman, who put up eight points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Rockford FIRE HomeSchool's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-12. As for Oakhill Christian, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-24.

Rockford FIRE HomeSchool wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-37 defeat against Westlake Christian Academy on the 1st. As for Oakhill Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 32-31 loss against Varsity Opponent on the 1st.
