Basketball Game Preview: Aldine Mustangs vs. Spring Lions

The Aldine Mustangs will face off against the Spring Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Aldine will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Eisenhower, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Aldine walked away with a 61-53 win over Eisenhower on Saturday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Eagles are ranked 911th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Spring ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Nimitz, sneaking past 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since January 3, 2024.

Aldine has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Spring, they pushed their record up to 14-15 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Aldine beat Spring 78-67 when the teams last played back in January. Will Aldine repeat their success, or does Spring have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
