Basketball Recap: Cornwall Central Comes Up Short

After soaring to 55 points the game before, Cornwall Central was a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They lost 53-30 to the Washingtonville Wizards. The Dragons have struggled against the Wizards recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Washingtonville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennan Tesseyman, who went 5-for-9 en route to 11 points and six boards. Tesseyman is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Malachi Taylor, who posted nine points.

Cornwall Central's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Washingtonville, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Cornwall Central and Washingtonville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. Cornwall Central (ranked 221st) will meet Liberty (ranked 736th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Washingtonville will take on Monticello at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 649 places (135 vs. 784).
