Baseball Game Preview: Central Bobcats vs. Alhambra Lions

For the second straight game, Central will face off against Alhambra. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Central Bobcats take on Alhambra Lions at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Central fell victim to Alhambra and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 26-0 to the Lions.

For Alhambra's part, Christopher Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Martinez a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emiliano Ramos Paco, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Alhambra is undefeated when Ramos Paco posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alan Ledon, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Alhambra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Alhambra is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
