Baseball Recap: Malibu Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Malibu was forced to take a big loss against Nordhoff on Wednesday, they got the better of them on Friday. The Sharks put the hurt on the Rangers with a sharp 9-0 victory. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Sharks yet this season.

Grayson Polatin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Malibu is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-7 otherwise. Polatin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sparks Withrow, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Cupp, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Malibu was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nordhoff only posted a batting average of .087.

Malibu moved to 3-8 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. As for Nordhoff, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
