Softball Recap: Holton Comes Up Short

Holton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Nemaha Central on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Thunder: they've now lost four in a row.

Stephanie Crawford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Holton's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Nemaha Central, the victory was their first at home, bumping their record up to 2-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Thunder beat Holton by a score of 17-1 later that day.
