While Richmond-Burton might've come up empty on Thursday, Hailey Holtz wasn't going down without a fight. Holtz made a splash, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Considering she played a big game the last time she faced off against Woodstock North back in April of 2024, the result shouldn't come as too huge a shock. Holtz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Holtz and Richmond-Burton will challenge Antioch at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Sadly, Holtz's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Rockets' four-game streak of wins at home. With the streak broken, Holtz and the Rockets surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Friday's match.
