Softball Game Preview: Garber Dukes vs. Millington Cardinals

Garber hasn't had much luck against Millington recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dukes will take on the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Garber and Glenn, and Garber kept the tradition alive. The Dukes put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 13-6 win on Thursday.

11 must be Millington's lucky number: they beat Frankenmuth with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Cardinals beat the Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-2. Winning may never get old, but the Cardinals sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Logan Matusik was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Lilly Damm was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Millington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Millington pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Garber, their record is now 10-11.

Garber came up short against Millington when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Dukes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
