Baseball Game Preview: Magna Vista Warriors vs. Cave Spring Knights

The Magna Vista Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Cave Spring Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Magna Vista will be strutting in after a win while Cave Spring will be coming in after a defeat.

Magna Vista took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Halifax County by a score of 13-6 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Cave Spring didn't have quite enough to beat Blacksburg on Friday and fell 10-9. The Knights have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Gavin Young and Tyler Harrison stepped up to the plate in a big way. Young went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Harrison went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ryan Tibey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Magna Vista pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cave Spring, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Magna Vista couldn't quite get it done against Cave Spring in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 8-5. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
