Baseball Recap: Kerman Takes a Loss

Kerman had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it six. They fell 9-6 to the Reedley Pirates. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Xavier Montalvo put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Montalvo wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Koa Roberts, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that Roberts has hit this season. Another was Vaughn Blunt, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Reedley, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Reedley's side, they got a big performance out of Vayden Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Xavier Chagoya was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Kerman will square off against Sierra Pacific at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Bears will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Reedley, they will challenge Immanuel at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
