The Lake Highland Prep Highlanders will head out to challenge the Master's Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Highland Prep has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Lake Highland Prep lost 16-1 to Orangewood Christian on Tuesday. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lake Highland Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alina Shaikh, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Master's Academy made easy work of Pine Ridge on Tuesday and carried off a 21-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Reagan Peri made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero hits, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Isa Moya was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Lauren McMeel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Master's Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Lake Highland Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Master's Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lake Highland Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Master's Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lake Highland Prep couldn't quite get it done against Master's Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can Lake Highland Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
