Basketball Recap: Ava Wagner and Emma Carter Secure Win for Red Bud

There's no place like home for Red Bud, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They came out on top against the Chester Yellowjackets by a score of 50-40 on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 36-31 back in November of 2024.

Red Bud was led to victory by Emma Carter and Ava Wagner. Carter posted five points in addition to 13 boards and four steals, while Wagner almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. That's the most steals Carter has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jeda Kathryn Friess, who had eight points and nine rebounds.

Red Bud's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 13-6. As for Chester, they dropped their record down to 6-11 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Red Bud will square off against Freeburg at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chester, they will challenge Carlyle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
