Preview: Ashe County Huskies vs. Newton-Conover Red Devils
The Ashe County Huskies will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Newton-Conover Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Ashe County fought the good fight in their overtime match against Mountain Heritage on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to the Cougars.
Meanwhile, Newton-Conover pushed their score all the way to 76 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Hickory by a score of 78-76. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (66), Newton-Conover still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Newton-Conover had strong showings from Javier Lineberger, who scored 27 points, and Owen Cannon, who scored 29 points along with 5 steals.
Ashe County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Newton-Conover, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
