Baseball Recap: Making Waves Academy Drops Season-High Score on Bentley

Making Waves Academy hadn't done well against Bentley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Making Waves Academy walked away with a 16-12 victory over Bentley. The Marlins' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Gustavo Rosas was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. He has become a key player for Making Waves Academy: the team is 2-0-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, DaMaury Olsen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Making Waves Academy is 2-0-1 when Olsen posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise. William Castillo was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and three RBI.

Making Waves Academy's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4-1. As for Bentley, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Making Waves Academy will take on KIPP King at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. KIPP King has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Making Waves Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bentley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Athenian at 4:00 p.m. on April 17.
