Softball Game Preview: Canajoharie Cougars vs. Mayfield Panthers

Canajoharie hasn't had much luck against Mayfield recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars will welcome the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Canajoharie has given up an average of 15.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Canajoharie is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Monday. They lost 19-1 to Duanesburg.

Meanwhile, Mayfield made easy work of Middleburgh on Monday and carried off a 20-4 victory. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Kaylee Klymkow made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Klymkow was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Mayfield got a massive performance out of Kloe Fetrow, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave Fetrow a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maya Rohling, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Mayfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .675. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Canajoharie's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Mayfield, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
