Volleyball Recap: Kolbe-Cathedral Takes a Loss

Kolbe-Cathedral lost against Newtown back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cougars came up short against the Nighthawks, falling 3-0.

Kolbe-Cathedral took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Kolbe-Cathedral still got an impressive performance from Angel Gomez, who had 24 digs. Gomez has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 36 times he's played.

Newtown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nate Twitchell led the charge by getting 15 digs, ten kills, two aces, and one block. That's the most aces Twitchell has posted over his last four matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Deraney, who had 26 assists and six digs.

Kolbe-Cathedral now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Newtown, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Kolbe-Cathedral nor Newtown have any future games scheduled.
