Baseball Recap: La Salle Victorious

While La Salle's victory against Hillsboro wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Spartans 6-5 on Wednesday. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Torsten Hersom was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Torin Fisher was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

La Salle's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Hillsboro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12.

La Salle will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
